Facing an addiction alone can be extremely difficult. It’s common for people to feel alone and isolated in their struggle with SUD. People who have a support system of friends, relatives and others are much more successful.
Of course, people in treatment for SUD have professional support, but knowledgeable support from loved ones is also crucial.
Sometimes, friends or family back away from that person in treatment, but that might be one of the worst things you can do. The first step to helping the person is learning the signs and symptoms.
