4a. Substance Use & Isolation

Feelings of isolation, depression or anxiety may lead people to use substances that only hurt them more. Increased substance use can lead the person to feel more isolated, depressed or anxious, creating a vicious cycle.


Instead, people who feel isolated can reach out to loved ones by calling, texting or arranging video calls. They should also continue therapy and other treatment plans.
