Ever wish you could convince your body to spike a fever the day of a big math test you didn’t study for? Your brain is in control of a whole bunch of internal systems you can’t consciously change, including your temperature. While that stinks for your math grade, it’s really a good thing. Without you having to lift a finger, your brain is managing all sorts of complex functions like breathing, heart rate, hunger, thirst, body temperature, growth spurts and about a million other important things.
