Create an exit plan

Keeping marijuana away from your child when they are safe in your home is one thing. However, when they are out of your reach, outside factors like peer pressure can quickly take over. What can you do? Discuss these situations with your child and help them create an exit plan.

The exit plan can consist of any steps you and your child agree on when they are offered marijuana, or just flat out pressured to use it.

This could include:

  • Sending a code word through text
  • How to effectively say “no” and stick to their beliefs
  • When and how to safely remove themselves from the situation

The more you practice the exit plan with your child in a safe environment, the more empowered they will be when it’s time to make the right choices.
