Traditional devices
At some point, you’ve probably seen the more recognizable contraptions that people have used to smoke.
These include:
Bongs
Pipes
Bowls
Blunts
Joints
Vapes and pens
Compounds from the marijuana plant can be extracted and made into oils and concentrates. These are then inhaled through devices such as:
Vape pens or e-cigarettes
Dab pens/rigs
Pipes or water pipes
This method uses high concentrations of THC, which are quickly absorbed into the body, significantly increasing the risk of negative side effects.
Edibles
As you’ve previously learned, all kinds of sweets, snacks, and beverages can be infused with THC.
Edibles take longer to show any effects, making it easy for someone to take more than the serving size and experience overdose effects.
Additionally, edibles are made to look like many popular foods and beverages, which can confuse children.
Tinctures
Tinctures are cannabis-infused oils or alcohol that are ingested by placing them under your tongue, or in food or drinks.
Even with a small amount used, you can ingest large amounts of THC into your body.
Lotions and balms
Products are applied directly to the skin, where the marijuana compound (CBD and/or THC) are absorbed.
These can look like everyday skincare items:
Body oils
Lotions
Creams/ointments
Patches
Salve
We’ve covered marijuana in disguise, but what about substances disguised in marijuana? Unfortunately, marijuana can be laced with many dangerous, and even deadly, drugs and substances, including:
Lead
Glass
Fungus
Fentanyl
PCP
Heroin
LSD
Methamphetamine
We will take a closer look at the dangers of laced marijuana in the next lesson!
