3f. Mixed Dementia

Mixed dementia is the result of more than one type of dementia existing in the brain at the same time. Mixed dementia commonly occurs when abnormal protein deposits (Alzheimer’s disease) exist alongside blood vessel problems (vascular dementia).

In some cases, a patient may have 3 conditions at the same time: Alzheim’ers disease, vascular dementia, and dementia with Lewy bodies.

The symptoms of mixed dementia will vary, depending on the combination of disorders a person has. One person may show symptoms that lean towards a single type of dementia, while others may show clear signs of multiple types.
