Lesson 4: Healthy Brain Habits
4h. Get a Good Night’s Rest
When we sleep, our brain forms pathways that help us learn and create new memories.
Sleep also allows the brain to remove toxins that build up during the day.
Without sleep, our brain cannot maintain these pathways, making it harder for us to concentrate and create new memories.
Here are some tips you can follow to get a better night’s sleep:
Follow a schedule; go to bed and wake up the same time every day
Exercise no later than a few hours before going to bed
Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol before bed
Relax by taking a warm bath, reading, or meditating
Avoid screen time at least 30 minutes before bed
Sleep in a dark, quiet and comfortable environment
See a doctor if you continue having problems sleeping
