4h. Get a Good Night’s Rest

  • When we sleep, our brain forms pathways that help us learn and create new memories.
  • Sleep also allows the brain to remove toxins that build up during the day.
  • Without sleep, our brain cannot maintain these pathways, making it harder for us to concentrate and create new memories.
  • Here are some tips you can follow to get a better night’s sleep:
    • Follow a schedule; go to bed and wake up the same time every day
    • Exercise no later than a few hours before going to bed
    • Avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol before bed
    • Relax by taking a warm bath, reading, or meditating
    • Avoid screen time at least 30 minutes before bed
    • Sleep in a dark, quiet and comfortable environment
    • See a doctor if you continue having problems sleeping
